Windows XP on Mobile

March 25, 2008

Nokia’s Communicator style mobile phone/PDA hybrid has long been a popular choice for enterprise users, particularly in Europe. The MIU HDPC will change up that landscape a bit. HDPC, short for Hybrid Dual Portable Computer, packs 7 hours of battery life when booting in from Windows XP or Linux (uncertain at the moment) and some 90 hours on Windows Mobile. That’s pretty intense.
The device also throws in an exterior dial which slides and tilts, similar to a SideKick meets the TyTN II/Tilt. There is a 4 inch 800 X 480 touchscreen inside, a 1 GHz VIA ultra low voltage CPU, and up to 4GB DDR RAM. There is also a 3-5 megapixel camera with flash and exterior screen with dial pad for the phone features.whether it’s GSM with HSDPA for high speed internet access or CDMA with EVDO for broadband speeds.

Windows Vista On Gigabyte M700 UMPC

March 24, 2008

Over at CeBIT in Germany, Gigabyte has just unveiled their new M700 UMPC.
The Gigabyte M700 UMPC gets outfitted with a seven-inch (touchscreen?) display, but it pushes the processing envelope a little further by running a full build of Windows Vista Home Premium. This is achieved through the 1.2GHz Via C7-M processor and 2GB of memory standard. The seven-inch screen has a resolution of 1024×600 pixels.
Weighing it at only 1.43 pounds, this UMPC also comes loaded with dual webcams, GPS, and a WiMAX-capable ExpressCard. There’s no QWERTY keyboard, so you’ll probably have to make do with one of those on-screen virtual numbers. No details surrounding pricing or release dates were announced.

Role Of Technology In Design & Creativity Development

February 25, 2008

Design, arts and technology have a very close relation, but most of the time it’s not considered or not given that much importance by people. Ignorance of relativity may stand a reason, but access to the right medium matters more. The widespread use of Internet has though solved this problem, but room for improvement is still there. Well, moving the topic ahead, I’ve come across some online resources providing guideline for professional design careers, like one here.

It’s very helpful to have guidance from professionals and be updated with the latest innovations in the field with proper use of technology, so that creativity and skills get the right direction. I totally agree that design skills and aptitude is something natural or God gifted, but there’s many people not that much successful, even while having all this. The reason that I could figure out is nothing other than lack of guidance or they have not kept their selves updated with latest trends and command over new methods.
